BroVis Wireless Networks announces Global Expansion
-Receives $3 million in Venture Financing to fund its expansion plans and product development-
Chennai, November 7, 2006 – Brovis Wireless Networks (“BroVis”), a global provider of next-generation Broadband Wireless Infrastructure systems and solutions, has started Sales, Marketing and Manufacturing operations in the South East Asia region comprising of ten countries. As part of this global expansion initiative, BroVis has signed a comprehensive strategic partnership with Iconbase sdn bhd, Malaysia, a leading provider of Telecom and wireless products, with regional offices in many South East Asia regions. Iconbase will distribute and support BroVis products in ten South East Asia countries including Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand. BroVis will establish its second production unit (the first being in Chennai) in Kuala Lumpur for local consumption as well as exports. In addition, BroVis will work with its partner and affiliates to provide a world class service and support infrastructure. BroVis has already started shipping its systems to China, Middle East Africa (MEA), SriLanka and Bangladesh.
BroVis will receive $3 million in Series B funding led by Parakletos@ Ventures, based in Menlo Park, CA, USA. The investment will fuel global expansion plans as well as product development activities. In conjunction with this funding and expansion, Dr. Paul Kim, an eminent Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist and head of Parakletos@Ventures, has joined the BroVis Board of Directors as Chairman. The other two board members of BroVis Inc are Muthu Logan, Founder and CEO of BroVis, and Babu Mandava, Technology Strategist and Founding Investor of BroVis
Brovis' products and solutions are the first to deliver wireless broadband in the fast-growing Indian Subcontinent, MEA, SEA and key North American markets using an IEEE 802.11 based concurrent band architecture over wider distances than traditional systems in rough and challenging Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) indoor and outdoor terrains. The solution represents a unique application of Brovis’ core wireless technology- TrueEXOR™, reaching distances of up to 5 kilometers in NLOS applications and Point-to-Multipoint network configurations, and up to 30 kilometers in Line-of-Sight (LOS) applications. The Brovis Broadcell and Radio-Zone solutions deliver a comprehensive solution for Telcos, Service providers and corporate campus network managers, enabling fast deployment and simple integration into existing networks. NLOS capabilities allow operators to reach more customers while reducing overall costs. BroVis will be adding Dynamic Mesh and Wi-Max capabilities in the near future.
Advanced wireless technology enables Brovis to offer the industry’s highest available security based on AES (Advanced Encryption Standard), integrated functionality, and complete infrastructure management capabilities like Quality of Service and advanced Subscriber Management. The Broadcell system also includes Turbo technology, an innovative combination of performance-enhancement features—including packet bursting, fast frames, and data compression—that provide dramatic improvements in throughput and range.
Brovis is getting aggressive in the Indian Market as well as expanding in the newer regions. The firm is set to launch a whole new range of wireless products by this fiscal year end. The new product line includes enhanced version of its current product line as well as new product lines like wireless dynamic mesh routers and Wi-Max based solutions. The new offerings are in line with BroVis’ vision to develop cost-effective wireless solutions that adds value at every step. Brovis has around 20 formidable channel partners world-wide and is likely to double that figure by the end of next fiscal year.
