BroVis unveils wireless broadband for enterprises
Chennai Sept. 7, 2004 – BroVis Wireless Networks has launched its wireless broadband solution targeting primarily enterprises with large campuses. The company is in talks with venture capital firms to get a second round of funding of about $3 million.
Mr. Muthu Logan, CEO, BroVis, said this year the company expected to make 20-25 deployments of this technology called BroadCell solution suite, which would translate to about 30 base stations and 250-300 subscriber units.
The base station would transmit data at a speed of 54 mega bits per second (Mbps) to the subscriber units (or clients) within a range of 5 kilometers, without using wires. The solution is ideal for corporate and educational institutions with large campuses. It is also targeted at rural areas, " Mr. Logan said.
By March 2006, BroVis is expecting a topline of Rs. 27 crore to Rs. 30 Crore. This, the company hopes, would come from 100-125 deployments, of which about 70% will be in India. This includes a good number of campus deployments, service provider deployments, hotspot deployments and rural projects," he said.
